Thrive Themes Costs, Features, Thrive Themes Advantages & Disadvantages and my Experience
I’ve been using Thrive Themes for over 4 years and during that time a lot has happened with the landing page builder for wordpress. In the beginning, the options and products were still manageable and especially separate from each other. Say you could purchase each individual product with a one-time fee, for example Thrive Architect cost $50 for one license and $97 for 5 licenses. Since 2021, the company behind Thrive Themes, whitesquare GmbH, has switched to SaaS and charges monthly ongoing fees. For Thrive Suite you pay 19$ per month, that’s 228$ per year and depending on the exchange rate between 180–210€ per year. Let’s take a look at what you get for that price and why it’s still worth it for you. (Oh and yes, this site is built with Thrive Themes 🙂 )

- My experience with Thrive Themes
Thrive Themes is a plugin purely for WordPress and therefore can only be used for WordPress-based websites.
As you can probably tell from the Thrive Themes plugins and products listed above, the whole thing is geared towards optimal marketing. Therefore, the products serve to optimize your website or landing page and use typical marketing techniques, such as lead forms, email lists, conversions and landing page building. In other words, Thrive Suite is optimal for setting up a stylish, practical and professional landing page in a short time.
But if you think Thrive Suite’s advantages lie only in simple landing pages, you are far wrong. The Homepage Page Builder can also be used to create larger homepages and websites. Over the years Thrive Themes has become a powerful WordPress plugin and in the following you will learn when and why I would recommend it to you.
The product you are paying for is called Thrive Suite and is part of Thrive Themes. It now includes all 10 products from Thrive Themes. When you purchase it, you get the plugin as a download and you can upload it to wordpress and connect to your user and use all the products or plugins:
- Thrive Themes Builder: Visual editor in WordPress to create your templates, that is, the page layout.
- Thrive Architect: drag and drop editor to build your site in wordpress, can’t be clearly separated from Thrive Themes Builder
- Thrive Leads: Used to manage and store contact information for email lists/mailing lists
- Thrive Quiz Builder: Creates and tracks quiz questions to increase page engagement
- Thrive Comments: comment feature for posts, with like button and interactive comments
- Thrive Ovation: manage testimonials to take advantage of social proof and include reviews
- Thrive Optimize: A/B testing for your website and each of your landing pages to test different versions
- Thrive Ultimatum: Countdown to evoke limitation and rarity
- Thrive Apprentice: Perfect to offer online courses and video material
- Thrive Automator: manage automations and workflows of the 10 plugins of Thrive Suite
Thrive Themes, as mentioned above, has only one affordable product left and that is the Thrive Suite. With the switch from on-premise or SaaP to SaaS, all 10 plugins have been brought under one hat and are now only available as a complete package. With that, the former Thrive Membership has also been renamed Thrive Suite and now costs $19 monthly or $228 if you sign up annually. However, if you only sign up or pay on a quarterly basis, Thrive Suite will cost you $90, or $360 a year.
For agencies, there is another pricing package that costs $49 monthly, but can be used for up to 50 websites. For both individual and agency options, there is a 30-day money-back guarantee, which allows you to quickly & simply reclaim your money if it doesn’t meet your needs.
Included in the cost are: All 10 plugins, Unlimited Support, Unlimited Updates, the two templates Shapeshift and Ommi, access to Thrive University (there are video tutorials for all components and almost all problems), 25 installations on different websites.
There are many landing page builders for WordPress. The question is, which ones are really good, fast, professional and cheap. Over the years I have also worked with Elementor, Visual Composer and Divi and here is my personal comparison to Thrive Suite.
Elementor
The advantage of Elementor is certainly that there is a free version to get familiar with the tool and to use over 40 widgets. Starting with one website, Elementor Pro costs $49 annually. This adds some features, but often still missing functions which can then be purchased via additional plugins. Overall, I find the theme builder of Elementor compared to Thrive Themes more unstructured and the structure of layers and widgets also worse. In addition, Thrive Themes is really optimized for marketing and offers the best tools and connections.
Divi Theme
The Divi Theme from Elegantthemes has one big advantage that Thrive Themes no longer has. By switching to SaaS, Thrive Themes has removed the one-time payment, called lifetime access from its price list. Divi, on the other hand, offers the option to either pay $89 annually or purchase a lifetime license for $249. Divi is well suited to build a simple homepage, which is within certain limits. The theme provides a fairly clean layout and also a limited selection of widgets. As your business or functionality needs increase, Divi won’t be enough and you’ll have to switch your site to another builder or purchase new plugins. Therefore, I would consider in advance what functionalities your site will need even in the next 3–5 years.
Visual Composer
Visual Composer costs $49 annually and offers a great wealth of features. Compared to Thrive Suite, it has the same or even more to offer purely from the features in the theme builder, widgets and connections. If we talk about the additional features through Thrive Optimize, Thrive Ovation, Thrive Automation, Thrive Quiz Builder and co, then I would choose Thrive Themes and Thrive Suite again. In a direct comparison of drag and drop and visual editors, I would also prefer Thrive Suite. In my case, Visual Composer hung or blocked other areas a few times and was less intuitively laid out. Because of this and the wealth of features and quick and intuitive implementation, Thrive Themes remains the leader in my opinion.
More than 200 templates
Choose from over 202 pre-built landing pages, which you just need to infest. There are also the newest and modern templates Ommi and Shapeshift. The Thrive Suite templates might grow in the future and there are templates for simple landing pages, but also for websites, simple download pages, lead forms and much more.
A lot of elements
Thrive Suite offers over 70 different elements and blocks. So far I’ve been able to build just about any element and if not, you can include it via custom HTML/CSS and a WordPress plugin.
Prefabricated Blocks
Building landing pages has never been so easy. You want to add a block to your page without much design effort? Then I can recommend you the 50 pre-built blocks for testimonials, product, lead form and more. You can simply insert them from the library and adjust all settings to your wishes.
More than 7800 Icons
What I also found super were the over 7800 available icons. In the Thrive Suite Library you can find all common brand icons as well as icons for any theme. So you never have to search for free icons on other sites or steal them.
All-in-one Dashboard
The Thrive Themes Dashboard now comes with a wealth of options. Over the years it has been expanded and now includes for example a “rebuild” page, global elements that are changed on all pages at once, website optimization for more speed, analytics and social media linking, user control and much more.
Many Integrations
With Thrive Themes Automator you can perfectly control workflows and processes within Thrive Themes plugins. But also external plugins can be easily and quickly integrated and connected via API. From Mailchimp, Zapier and Sendinblue to Google, Twitter, Facebook, Hubsport, Dropbox and Drip — all the connections and APIs you need.
Duplicate and store your pages
Within a WordPress account, pages can be easily duplicated and edited. But even if you have multiple WordPress accounts, you can easily save your created page and download it with Thrive Suite at the click of a button. Uploading is just as easy. For me, this has also been handy for backing up my site and ensuring that in the event of any crashes, I can restore it in minutes.
Many more functions
Of course, the pages are mobile-responsive and you can view both the desktop, tablet and smartphone views directly in Thrive Architect and edit them separately. There is also a link to pages, posts in wordpress. Theoretically, you could write down a lot of features for each plugin, so I’ve only listed features that are important and very useful to me. However, Thrive Suite is full of many many features and there will be more in the future.
Advantages of the Thrive Suite
- Optimized for marketing and conversion: Landing pages, A/B testing your pages and headlines, lead generation.
- Perfect for email marketing
- Thrive Suite is suitable for implementing a blog, a simple landing page for leads, a homepage or even a more complex website.
- Intuitive & easy to use
- Quick setup of the plugin
- Very fast page setup: For the basic setup of the page I needed < 1 hour. With writing the texts 5 hours.
- Hundreds of templates and dozens of pre-built blocks.
- Best visual editor I have worked with
- 25 websites can be run with Thrive Suite
- very powerful tool, includes 10 plugins and arms you for a lot of cases, big forum and good support
Disadvantages
- Unfortunately, you can no longer purchase the plugins separately. You are forced to buy the Thrive Suite and all plugins.
- The price of $19 is quite high if you only build one page. If you use it for multiple homepages and landing pages it’s a fair price for all the apps and features included
- Variety of templates (despite the 202 templates so far) still expandable
- Website and also plugin itself is only available in English, not in other languages
At $19 per month, Thrive Suite may seem more expensive than some of its competitors, but using it will quickly change your mind. Especially because Thrive products are optimized for convenience and ease of use and really save you time. And time is money after all. With Thrive Themes Builder, you can set global elements like logos and colors and create your first website in under 15 minutes. Also, with Thrive Architect and the pre-built templates, you’ll get your site up and running in a comparatively very short time. The connection to other service providers and the easy and reliable handling convinced me completely of the product. I have been working with it for 4 years now and have to say that the product got better and better. I am also very satisfied with the support and you can find many answers in the forum or on the Internet.
When comparing with other products also look at the scope of the products
What you should not lose sight of at the 19$ is the high number of websites you can set up with it. You can use Thrive Suite on up to 25 different sites.
For the amount of features, you won’t get a better product on the market (in my opinion). If you only need a small landing page or very simple homepage with not too many features, then you might be better served with another landing page builder. However, if you want to connect to marketing systems and want to align your site with marketing and sales, dry and compare results, then Thrive Suite is the best player on the market.
I was especially convinced by the simple and intuitive operation. With other editors, it often bothered me that components were not logically structured or did not work quite as smoothly and Thrive Themes mapped that in very good quality. So I would recommend you to try Thrive Suite and if it doesn’t fit your needs, you can get your money back within 30 days.
